I Am Back and I Hate Cable Advertising

I hate commercialsYes I know it’s been a while. I needed a break, a long break. I took a long hiatus to focus on what I wanted to be and I think I have found it. I built a few new blogs and honed in my writing a bit more. It’s now 12:19am and I am in a Super 8 hotel in NM. Before you ask if it could be worse, the answer is always yes. So to take out some tension and do what I do best I figured instead of staring at the white ceiling and white walls I would write a blog. I have been agitated all night trying to watch TV.

One thing you should know about me is that I have not had cable TV since I left GA in 2008. I hate cable TV and I hate that I have to pay for basic cable just to have internet since the package is cheaper than internet by itself. My silent protest is never hooking up the basic cable to my TV since I moved to Albuquerque. With that said, I have been trying to enjoy my TV tonight in the hotel room. There is one issue though, there is more ads than show. Now it seems that shows have 4-5 pauses for commercials and the commercials are some of the worst I have ever experienced.

I understand that advertisers need to be brought in to pay for the content and it’s my right to turn off the cable if I so choose, however, when is too many commercials? I am spoiled by Netflix. No commercials, and plenty of content for me to enjoy. I tried Hulu but I minus well just pay for cable since they are just loaded with unbearable commercials. I just can’t seem to win which is why I am borderline on cutting the cord completely. Continue reading

Music Industry Out of Touch with SanDisk Music

Today’s music world is not like what many of us grew up with. We have moved from vinyl to 8 tracks then over to cassettes to finally come to a resting stop using CD’s. The music industry has enjoyed years of profits from a physical medium which music rides on. The difference in today’s world is they are at a loss with today’s digital world. Instead of embracing the digital world in which a majority of people are able to download from the internet they turn to another physical medium.

Today’s announcement of releasing albums on SanDisk memory cards couldn’t be further from reality of what really needs to be done. It’s said that you will be provided with ways to unlock music using a dongle and buy these 1GB memory cards at the same price of a current CD. These companies’s don’t get it. We don’t need more memory cards. Many people have plenty in which we download music onto them and have the ability to delete and replace with music we like. Why would any smart business person think this is going to be profitable? Continue reading

I Want More Dicks

IronmanAfter watching Iron Man, I was relieved to find that someone, finally, did it right. I was never a fan of the comic, mostly because he was a part of Marvel’s legacy crew, A.K.A. The Avengers. There was zero character development, at least from the “I want it, now.” standpoint of a teenage boy. X-Men and Image comics offered more twists and turns. That aside, I was really impressed by the movie. I thought about it for a while to figure out, why? Sure, the acting and special effects were great, but ultimately the main reason I truly enjoyed it was because the bad guy was a real dick. The mark of a great superhero movie is a villain you can hate with a fiery passion. Continue reading

Fixing Fuel Cost – Build Better Cars

Fuel costs are high, and people don’t know what to do. We have our answers from our politicians and that’s either to stop taxing fuel through the summer or to get better gas mileage cars in the production. This is great but where is it going to help anyone in middle America? Of course everyone is up in arms, who wants to pay $60-$100 for a fill up? Who wants to spend the first 2 hours at work to pay for going to work? Who’s got two thumbs and answered not me to the first two questions? This guy.

So I can either save a few pennies per gallon or take out another loan for about $20K-$30K to buy a new vehicle and save money. These options sound completely insane to me. Why would I spend $20K on a new car just to save $1K-$5K on gas for a few years? This is the America I live in. We have no real answers or real solutions to real problems we face. Everyday I have the pleasure to read the junk that comes from our politicians. I am taxed, and of course re-taxed to buy thing. Why is my paycheck taxed so much? Why do Democrats want to raise taxes? Ahhh, I know…because everyone that makes these decisions make so much more than me. Continue reading

How Dare Battlestar Galactica Break Up With Me

If there is one thing that frakkin pisses me off more than accidentally pissing the bed half way into an erotic dream, is when TV shows break up with me instead of the other way around. I mean how dare they, how could they, and who the frak do they think they are? They can’t just rip Athena/Boomer from my retinas and think I won’t notice. Sure you might say ,”Easy dude, they are on DVD.” I say it’s not good enough and they should do way better than that homosexual show “Friends”. I mean a hot asian in space, bombs and bullets, and it’s in space. How awesome is that? Completely awesome to help you answer. Continue reading

Great…Ads Take Over My Monitor

I am a surfaholic, or a web-connoisseur, if you will from anything dealing with news all the way into dabbling in exotic websites created for men. I say this because I frak’in (also a huge BSG fan) can’t get enough of basking in the light rays emitted from my monitor. Recently I have felt a little irritated though as I surf websites I frequent, and have come to love and bookmark. It’s this stuff called ads, and I know you are very familiar with them also. I dealt with pop-ups, pop-unders, Google Adsense, and all the others that are just dying for my clicks so some webmaster can get paid $.02 per click and if we just talk adsense it’s probably lower than that. America: Oil for Food, Houses for Gas

The United States has evolved over many years as an exciting, fast paced way to your golden dreams. Other countries have not had quite the same history of luxury and riches of the USA. Looking back just a decade ago we had the “Oil for Food” program which was intended to help the Iraqi citizens survive the sanctions against that country by trading oil for food. The people of Iraq received the things they needed to live while the money they received helped rebuild the country of Kuwait after Saddam Hussein try toppling it.

Much in the same though we are working here in our own country under a new program seemed to be newly adopted by our greedy bankers and oil companies. The new “Houses for Gas” program seems to be working not as well as the other program did. In this program People give back their houses to the banks in exchange to be able to by gas for their cars. However, in this triangle, the money is then given to Big Oil so they can claim the largest profits in the history of the world, and the bankers receive dead property. It’s got a little twist in it and people don’t really understand it just yet. Instead of everyone winning in this program, only Big Oil wins. Continue reading

To Much Internet On the Brain

The internet itself takes a large portion of my day. Any tasks from online banking to chatting on Yahoo Messenger makes it through my common day to day routines. This morning I woke up and took a shower. Afterwards I was brushing my teeth when I heard the same noise YIM makes when someone IM’s me. I looked around and it was completely silent. I went to my computer to see if I had received a message. I had not received any at this point. Now I am starting to hear my computer even when i am far away from it. Continue reading

Hiliary Clinton, A Real Choice…

People from all walks of life are being bombarded with the Obama and Hilary talk from all spectrum’s of the media. The media wants us to devour the fight on race, sex, age, and anything else that might have us wound in a ball in front of the television set like we can change anything but the channel. I am no political science major, or even a freshman politician for my home town. However, I can easily answer the question everyone is asking about Hilary. The same thing question on my XM Radio and my CNN. Everyone thinks Hilary is losing because she is a woman. Everyone thinks Obama is winning because he is Black (well 50% anyways). We assume this becuase America MUST be divided in some shape or form otherwise we couldn’t possibly be seen as that diversified country with problems from around the world.

Becareful with the Value Meal

I was at Burger King today getting lunch with my family. My son said he wanted the chicken tenders so I glanced up at the Kid’s Meal section. The kids meal was $3.49, and completely understandable. This meal came with 4 tenders and enough fries to fill a little guy up no problem. However, being the penny pinching American I am, I decided to do a price comparison (this is the internet shopper in me) with the rest of the menu. This is where “Google meets the Real World” actually hurts businesses. I spotted the number 13 being the Chicken Tender Value Meal with 8 pieces for $3.79. So for $.30 more the little guy has to suffer without the toy but there appears 4 more tenders. Continue reading
