I had the luxury of reading that our congressional arm to include both the Congress and House of Representatives has hit an all time low of 12%. This is the lowest number in history for an institution. Yet, with speculation from our leaders there, the main reason for this low is the economy, high gas prices, and the war. I guess they skim over things like a steroid chase in major league sports. There seems to be no regard that the American public could care less about Roger Clemens and his testimony in Congress.

Perhaps our leaders have forgotten about real issues, perhaps they have forgotten about what makes America run, or perhaps they only care about their personal agendas. They get big thumbs down for not getting things done, and I mean real things. If they want to get their numbers up then they need to start talking about real politics. They need to start focusing about domestic issues and less on the war. The military is fighting the war and we don’t need our congressional arm to fight it from their chambers.

The war isn’t going to end till Iraq and other places can stand on their own. The economy is not going to fix itself with a $1,200 check from the government for each family. The housing market isn’t going to recoup with a government buyout plan. These folks we have elected need to stop wasting time and focus on real issues they can impact. They have it all wrong with global warming, carbon credits, interviewing big oil, and everything else. They could be less focused than they are today.

The biggest problem is with today’s internet and media coverage the American people are actually taking notice of the lack of work our wonderful representatives are actually doing. Most Americans I have come into contact with generally feel as if that whole section of government is nothing but a waste. They earmark the hell out of us, take extraordinary vacations, fly all over the world to shake hands with people they have no intention helping, and yet still give themselves large salaries and never ending retirement. To be honest the more I talk about their perks, the more I am thinking about running for a position so I better quit while I am ahead.

All in all I frankly believe even 12% is higher than what it really is. In 30 years of my life those pollsters haven’t called me. So who are they calling? I think America is down a long and wrong road that we will have trouble coming back from. We are looking at some of the worst possible candidates in American history, and no savior in the horizon. We are in some dark days of our history and it’s only started.
