Amazingly enough each birthday is celebrated with friends, family, and loads of ecards. However, depending on your state, your birthday also comes with renewing your vehicle registration. So I get gifts then I give the gifts to my county in which I receive nothing in return for my payment. For those that know me you can understand I might have a frustration with this particular agency. Tomorrow is my birthday and I will have to move the numbers up by one to make 30 this year. For 30 I am one incredible man though, so you ladies don’t forget that. I can count, brush my teeth, walk and chew gum, and build websites (adult/non-adult depending on what you are looking for in your man).

So as I go down to the office to pay my $20 (I get a discount becuase of my military connection) and I am obviously swearing and disgusted. Let’s look at it. What is my money paying for? Sales tax is to pay for things like road work. My property taxes, income taxes, and every other tax we pay and fees for this and that and they have to charge me $20 for nothing. I don’t receive anything, not even a coupon book. I own my vehicle, I pay for gas, I pay my insurance, I do everything. So why do i need to pay for the stupid sticker that goes on my license plate?

This is an obvious gouging of my government on it’s citizens. Is this how they prove they need to hire people? Do they make bogus offices and positions to keep people working? If so then this is obvious bullshit. There is no reason I should have to give $20 a year just receive a sticker for my car. They don’t look at it, they don’t test my driving skills, and they offer no service, taskings, or anything that would warrant money from me. At least property taxes go to schools. It actually serves a purpose.

If I wasn’t military I would have to pay in the upwards of $70 per year for my one vehicle. Tell me this is necessary? So becuase I am military (which I am thankful for) I can have a deep discount? This means they don’t really need it that bad. Georgia is a wonderful state that it needs to not only seek money for nothing, but tax the hell out of people owning businesses and just living here.

Now the flip side of this policy is the time of year you have to do this. It’s my birthday for God’s sake! I should be getting $20. I should pull up and say hello and receive a Happy Birthday and a $20 bill. On my birthday I should have to be forced to pay anyone anything. Why don’t they have everyone do it on the anniversary when no one could care less. On your anniversary (this mostly pertains to males) we don’t mind spending money for nothing. We are expected to do this anyways so what’s slipping another $20 into the evening? In fact i could send my wife down to pay it while I lye around my house doing nothing.

Ahh, to you license plate office I salute you this year with one finger. I will allow you to guess it (consider it YOUR early birthday present)
