Becareful with the Value Meal

I was at Burger King today getting lunch with my family. My son said he wanted the chicken tenders so I glanced up at the Kid’s Meal section. The kids meal was $3.49, and completely understandable. This meal came with 4 tenders and enough fries to fill a little guy up no problem. However, being the penny pinching American I am, I decided to do a price comparison (this is the internet shopper in me) with the rest of the menu. This is where “Google meets the Real World” actually hurts businesses. I spotted the number 13 being the Chicken Tender Value Meal with 8 pieces for $3.79. So for $.30 more the little guy has to suffer without the toy but there appears 4 more tenders.

I have learned a valuable lesson in this experience. Screw the toy and fill up the kids. I can’t count how many times I left a fast food joint only to hear,”Dad, I am still hungry.” I always think if that damn toy didn’t come with your food you would of focused on the food and not the toy. So for now on the kids are cut off from the cheaply made toys, which I may add are not collector’s items no matter how much someone wants to say they are. Back 10+ years ago when they were placing higher quality toys in the meals I would of had a difference of opinion. However today the toys just go with the shitty movies they are putting out. We don’t even have quality movies anymore…just some CGI story Joe Schmo thought off and if it profits it’s a success.

Well this dad is turning off the toy pipeline. I think it’s time people start looking at what they are getting for their buck a little closer. This is just one man’s opinion.

  1. Not only do you need to watch value meals also watch for those nice Holiday sales at the grocery you will see they put a sale on Ground Chuck or hot dogs. But everything you want to buy that goes with it like potato chips, buns and so on are .15 to .20 cents higher than the week before.
